Marine Corps League of Naples
E.T. Brisson Detachment #063, Naples, FL
New Beginnings School
The Detachment has adopted the New Beginnings School of Collier County, which is an "alternative" school for students, grades 5-8, who have problems in a standard school. The school is run similar to USMC Boot Camp with retired Marines employed as leaders and instructors. New Beginnings is the only public elementary school in the U.S. that is run in the tradition of the USMC.
Many of Detachment Members and their wives donate their time as mentors and help with classroom and individual instruction.
Each year the Detachment underwrites a trip to Parris Island for the students
who through studies and grades earn points and rank to be chosen for the trip.
